Delivering Purging Excellence
A Multi-Generational Engineering Story

UniTemp was incepted in 1979 in Darmstadt, Germany by founders Helmut Krebs and Hans-Martin Wolff, built on a foundation of engineering discipline, precision, and long-term reliability in plastics processing.
From its earliest days, UniTemp focused on solving real production problems in injection molding, hot runner and extrusion systems. That engineering-first mindset remains unchanged more than four decades later.
The Breakthrough That Changed Purging
In 1985, UniTemp introduced PEKUTHERM®, a proprietary mechanical (physical-action) purging compound that fundamentally changed how processors clean machines.
First produced by the Pfister family in West Germany
Rather than relying on carrier resins, lubricants, or chemical reactions, PEKUTHERM® harnesses thermoelastic physical force to remove residual polymers, color, and carbon down to polished metal surfaces—without soak time, blending with incoming resins, or risking equipment damage.
This approach positions PEKUTHERM® as a category-defining solution, far beyond a commodity additive.
Continuous Production Since 1985!
PEKUTHERM® has been in continuous real-world production use since 1985, trusted by injection molders and extruders across a wide range of materials, temperatures, and machine sizes.
Its longevity is not the result of marketing cycles.
It exists because the product performs—consistently.

Family-Owned. Third Generation. Built to Last.
At UniTemp, we’re a nimble, efficient team — cleaning your machines fast, deep, and right the first time. This is the leadership team guiding our three generations of innovation and customer commitment.

Bernd Krebs
President & Chief Executive Officer
Bernd joined UniTemp in 1985 as part of the company’s second generation of leadership.
With a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and early experience in plastics manufacturing at a German injection molding company, he brings both technical expertise and a global perspective to the business.
He helped expand UniTemp’s Hot Runner Systems operations throughout the Americas and was recognized by the Society of Plastic Engineers for advancements in back-injection molding technology.
Bernd also contributed to Pekutherm’s High-Heat (HLT) and Ultra-Low (ULT) formulations and led the onshoring of Pekutherm production in the the United States following post-COVID supply chain disruptions.
As CEO and President, he overseas UniTemp’s strategic direction, focusing on innovation, operational excellence, and sustainable growth across international markets.

Björn Krebs
Future Leadership
Represent the next generation of UniTemp, focused on continuity, operational excellence, and long-term growth.
Bjorn has served as a strategic consultant to UniTemp since 2017, bringing deep experience in industrial automation, innovation, and technical sales.
With a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering and over a decade of industry experience, he represents the third generation of UniTemp leadership.
His understanding of customer needs and emerging technologies helps drive initiatives that strengthen UniTemp’s online presence and support the onshoring and automation of Pekutherm’s U.S. production operations.

Alizabeth Krebs
Operations & Process Development
Alizabeth joined the Pekutherm team in 2023, bringing over a decade of management and operations experience in both office and production environments.
She strengthens our support structure, streamlines office and inside sales processes, and drives efficiency in our production warehouse.
Her background in quality management within food production provides valuable insights for serving high-risk industries such as medical, pharmaceutical, food, and beverage manufacturing.
As part of the third generation of company leadership, Alizabeth continues to build our legacy of operational excellence and innovation.
UniTemp — The Krebs Family Legacy
UniTemp remains a family-owned, privately operated company, now led by its third generation.
Each generation has contributed to the company’s evolution while preserving its core principles:
-
Engineering-led problem solving
-
Formulation consistency
-
Long-term customer relationships
-
Stability over scale
“UniTemp does not compete by being the biggest. It competes by being dependable, precise, and proven.” Bernd Krebs, President & Chief Executive Officer

Reshored to the United States — 2025
To Quality & Efficiency
In 2025, UniTemp completed a full reshoring of PEKUTHERM® production to the United States, making PEKUTHERM® an All-American product, manufactured by an American team.
This move reflects UniTemp’s commitment to:
-
Supply-chain reliability
-
Manufacturing accountability
-
Quality control and formulation integrity
-
Long-term support for North American customers
Today, PEKUTHERM® is engineered, produced, and supported in the USA, reinforcing UniTemp’s hands-on approach and direct relationship with the processors who rely on its products.
